Background

Between the years 2007-2013, former registered nurse Elizabeth Wettlaufer confessed to murdering eight senior citizens and attempting to murder six others in Southwestern Ontario.   Wettlaufer pled guilty and was sentenced to eight concurrent life sentences in June 2017.  The public inquiry was established by the Government of Ontario to conduct public consultations in the community, to interview families of the victims, and to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Wettlaufer's victims and gaps in legislative or policy frameworks that allowed her to continue working as a nurse.  She was employed at a number of nursing homes where she carried out her criminal acts.

Court Reporting

Neesons' experience in providing specialized services - same day rough draft transcripts and certified next day transcripts - will no doubt be highly used by all counsel and the Commissioner at the hearing.  Just as important, though, is the availability of the transcripts to the public on the Commission's website.  Click here to view any transcript of the hearing to date.

Just a few short years ago, Neesons was the court reporter of choice for the Elliot Lake Inquiry and our transcripts are still accessible to the public - click here to view.

Being able to create a lasting record for decades to come is one of the most satisfying aspects of a career in court reporting.  Future generations will be able to view the transcripts of these important public hearings and hopefully learn from the mistakes made that led to the calling of the inquiry in the first instance.
